The Grill restaurant & Lounge boosts a contemporary and imaginative setting and a welcoming ambience that combines beauty with practicality, luxury with understated elegance, and modernity with hints of traditional Egyptian art and craft.
With spectacular Nile view, international and French authenticity is preserved with Executive Chef Joachim Textor and his culinary team. Once a month the Grill presents an exclusive five course Degustation dinner featuring the Grill’s culinary team signature creations.

Dramatic art by Karem Mahfouz along with private dining rooms and an unparalleled selection of wines complete the refined dining experience.

To pay tribute to those who have influenced the life of this hotel, we chose to commemorate their names by naming the 3 dinning private dining rooms of the Grill restaurant after them.

Bakalis: This dining room is named in honour of the late Konstantinos Bakalis. Mr. Bakalis was a noted humanist gentleman and former Chairman of Merlon Petroleum. He was a permanent guest at the Semiramis for 15 years and frequently dined at the Grill.

Bucher: This dining room pays tribute to the Bucher family. Robert Bucher was the owner and builder of the original Semiramis. His son, Otto, was the first General Manager of the hotel when it opened in 1907. At the ripe old age of 107, Otto passed away in 1988. Otto’s son, Robert, who is 85 years old. Continues to keep in touch with hotel and its staff.

Violante: This dining room honors the last Maitre D’hotel of the historic Semiramis. Luigi Violante of Italian descent, joined the hotel in 1954. During his 12 years of loyal service, he hosted the first Arab President’s meeting with the late President Gamal Abdel Nasser and greeted many distinguished guests the likes of Aristotle Onassis, Mrs. John F. Kennedy and Maria Callas.
